Sweet memories of May Day baskets

And the post before this one was, what I think is a pity party....and today is May 1, and with it comes some pretty special memories for me and my teenagers when they where younger, they went to a small school and they'd have May Day celebration, I wish I had a scanner so I could show you pictures of them rapping ribbon around a pole, but I don't, but the memory is so alive in my soul, and then they would come home from school or sometimes the night before, all depended..we'd take strawberry baskets that we kept and put some beautiful flowers in them and put one on our neighbors front door, we'd put daisies, these are my favorite, small little pansies, or what ever we had at the time growing, and Johnanthon would always leave his trade, a dandy lion! This elderly lady had a sick husband and we'd ALWAYS leave her one, and one for the nearly blind lady across the street who picked her berries in her back yard, while sitting in a chair! They knew my children left them, but never spoke a word about knowing it was them, they make remarks like "I got the prettiest flowers this morning on my front porch" or "Some sweet person left me some flowers" and my babes would just look at each other and then to me and giggle or pull my blouse. Why cant we have all that back? Will my children teach my grandchildren about this and tell them "I remember when grandma use to do this with me" Thank you all who has posted about today, you put a smile on my face and reminded me of some sweet, sweet memories that brings tears to my eyes.
