"The storey of the christmas tree"

I have often wondered where did the Christmas Tree come to play in Christ's birth, so I thought "Google it dummy" and I did and found out about the christmas tree, so here's the storey...copied word for word, I was never good in school at putting things down in words after reading, so here it goes.....

Why do we decorate Christmas tree? The habit is probably inherited from the Egyptians that used to decorate the house with palm tree leaves in the day of astrological winter. The habit was taken from the Romans that used instead of palms trees the conifers. But the story really begins around the 7th century when a monk from Devonshire came to Germany to learn the word of the Lord. Legend says that he used the triangler form of the christmas tree to symbolize religious meanings. In Europe of the 12 centry, on Christmas day, the christmas tree was installed upside down, hanging from the ceiling! It appears the tree was first deocrated at Riga in 1510. At the beginging of the 16 centery, M. Luther decorated the tree with candles to suggest to his children the sparkling of the stars in the sky. At the middle of the 16th centery, in Germany, appear the first markets specailized in selling presents for christmas, usually food or objects of practicle use. Christmas decorations that were meant to suggest snow were invented in Germany in 1610. At that time not only they were silvery, but thet were also made of silver. There were invented machines to mke thin silver strings for the tree. Silver lasted long but it oxidized very fast, so they tried to alley it with copper and zinc, but that was very heavy and it just broke the tree with its own weight, so they used silver in till the middle of the 20th centrey. In Greta Britain, the christams tree came along with merchants that orginated from Germany and settled in England. Decorating the christmas tree meant silver orniamnets, candles, and pearl like ribbon that were all made in Germany and Eastern Europeat that time, The custom said that every family member or invented person had to have atree placed on the table in front of him, with presents besides it. In 1846, Queen Vcitoria and Prince Albert, both born in Germany, appear in "Illustrated London News" along with their children, all around the christmas tree. The popularity of the reagal family made this custom to spread fast among the people. The tree became a fashion matter not only in the Britain Islands, but also in the eastern coast of America. Decorations were huge in varity. Mo stly home made becouse they were expensive at the time. Young ladies spent hours cutting paper snowflakes and stars, folding presentsIn America, the christmas tree appears around 1747, in Germany communities from Pennslvania, but it appears only along with the development of communications, at the middle of the 19 century. In 1882, the elcetric light bulb was invinted and in 1892, it is adapted for the christmas tree. And so, we get to our presnt tree that combines all the elments presented above in the most ingenious and created mixture! So theres your storey on the Chrismas tree, hope you leanrned a little something I did.

How interesting! It's always nice to hear history behind our traditions. So glad to hear your temperatures are at 65. Wish mine were. My oldest puppy I had to go rescue because his little feet started to freeze.
