"sPECAil NeED's"

Happy Wednesday to all...I'm off today, off from work that is! Did I tell you all that Johnanthon passed his permit test on the first try? and my poor Amanda took it twice and and missed passing by 1 point? well she didn't study like Johnanthon did and his was still fresh in his head from driving school, so just one of mine will be hitting the streets soon....YIKES! I came home from work yesterday and my children, when I say my children I talking my 2, Chris, and Blake had bbq'd, AGAIN for me and had super done with the table sit and the whole nine yard's, this time we had baby back rib's, beans, salad and bread and of course Sun tea! it was the sweetest thing, I swear these boy's are gonna make some woman happy and do their Mamma's proud. I cleaned up again cause the kitchen was a mess. My children and my self are so blessed to have such fine young adults in our life's, sure Johnanthon and Blake do some pretty stupid stuff but that's 2 ADHD boy's for you, and I love their sense of humor these boy's have, I laugh so much when Blake's around, I think he hangs out here as much as he does due to the fact that his parents just give him so much negative feed back and allot of ADHD children growing up already feel like failures due to the fact they are ALWAYS in trouble in school, so there for the home is always in an uproar, they remind me of airplanes out of control in the sky, and a percentage of the children fall into the world of drug's, not these 2, but Blake's parents never did take any classes to learn more about it or went to any support group's, boy I did, I wanted to learn as much as I could cause it not only effects the child, but it effects the family as a whole, I even put Amanda in a support group, and to this day I still cant learn enough about it....maybe it's one of my passions.
Blake's parents are divorced and his Dad is a drinker , and his mother just kind of turns her head away, and does nothing but yell at him and tells him nothing but negative stuff....I got so mad at her once and said, "Annette (her name is Annette too) you as an adult don't like to be yelled at, let alone told ugly thing's to you 24-7, so why are you doing this to Blake?" God has blessed us with children, and 1 child with special needs he chose me to have, not everyone gets a blessing like that, yea maybe they aren't what schools call "The perfect child" and families dread us over for gathering's, we lose friends because our boy's fight with other children, but have they ever thought it might be them? they don't know how to react with our children or with us, I am very pleased with my gifts from God, my child is VERY,VERY smart, he just shows it differently, I always wanted to be advocate for these children, but I don't have a piece of paper saying I took classes to learn about this, the only experience I have is being a mother to one, and the only paper I have is my child birth certificate, and my counselor and guidance has been God, now you get any better then that! So Thank you God for every curve ball that has been thrown at my child, cause it's made me a better mother, and I love you for everything you molded this child in to being, I only assisted you, so any mistakes my child might do later on in life is a curve ball, and I will get on my knees and ask for your guidance once again, and knowing you'll lead me in the right direction on what to do and what to say.

Your child is very lucky to have you! You sound like an incredible advocate for these children...the greatest thing they can have!
I just wanted to swing by and thank you for your lovely comments. You always make me smile! And yes, of course, you can add my photog blog to your sidebar. I would be honored! THanks so much and have a wonderful fourth of July weekend!

i have tears in my eyes, annette...because your post is so heart felt....and i couldn't agree with jessamyn more....your son (and his friend) is very, very lucky to have you for a mother and advocate.....i think it is just wonderful that you made it your responsibility to educate yourself and had such an interest and desire to learn everything you could, to help him cope...and your family......it's a funny world we live in....if you don't fit a certain mold in behavior....you get a label....when sometimes all anyone would need to do, is educate themselves and nurture.
and like jessamyn said....that is the greatest gift you could ever give johnanthon....
love and hugs to you annette....you are an amazing person!
