"Going back in time"

HAPPY EARTH DAY to all.....I know for a fact I could be so much better then I am in by doing thing's a little different. I can remember my Mom reusing the foil, washing out sandwich bags, and using Good'ol cool whip containers for left overs, Now however I do wash out the plastic bag's, depending what they had in them, o and did I mention she'd make me use the same lunch bag until it was absolutely no good, she did all this because she was single mother for such a long time and she was brought up in very poor family and she wasted nothing, if it could be reused we did! Little did she know then that she was already saving the earth, and to this day she still washes the foil, and baggies and etc, I guess once you get into something you've done all your life is difficult to stop. We bought a fake Christmas tree a few years back, and I thought the kid's where going to die over it, "What a fake tree, that's so gay" John said "Look" I said," I don't think we should take some birds home away for our pleasure, and beside the mess," so I buy branches from a local tree place and put on the mantle for the smell, they still get upset every years over my fake tree, I so hope I'm around when they have children...heehee. I do leave lint from my drier out and about for the birds to help them in making a nursery, and leave some weeds to dry out for them as well, it's neat to watch them pull at the stuff, and my cat loves it as well. I hope all of you have a great day, tootles for now.....

it is true....what you have done for so many years, you just keep doing......for me, that probably isn't a good thing! :) at least as far as mother earth is concerned.....my children are much better at conserving and doing their part already, than i am....they are leading the way and i am learning from them! and i am thankful for that.....
the Christmas tree....oh my.....i haven't gotten that far yet....i looooooove my real tree....however...small steps, breathe deep, small steps....:)
hope you have a great day, annette...

I know I could do better. Having an earth day and reading all the great information about how to go green really does help get me motivated. I compost and I do save all my newspaper and use them under the pine straw as an additional layer to keep the weeds down and keep moisture in the earth where it's needed. Both of those things really helped me last year with the drought here in Georgia.

Hope y'all have a good night, Phyllis

I'm good, but I could be better.

I use reusable grocery totes, I rarely take bags from the store.

I buy eco-friendly products, dish soap, etc.

I recycle plastic and glass (I give it to the city, they recycle it in the blue bags)

we have a fake christmas tree

ok, that's my GOOD list...now for my BAD list...

I drive an SUV...ouch, I know, I hear about it everyday...to fill up you ask? $90.00...yep, but I can go two weeks on a full tank, usually.

I throw way too many leftovers out. I'm quite sure we could feed an under developed country just on what I throw out.

I'm a HOT water freak when it comes to dishes, laundry, etc...and this wastes energy.

I'm sure I could go on and on, but I will stop here...I'm starting to feel bad...but I DO PICK UP LITTER, does that count?
