Far Away Friday trip

My Far away Friday is when Amanda, Johnanthon, and myself took a trip to Oklahoma, about 6 or 7 years ago, we went for a family reunion, that was so fun, the kids where afraid of flying, I remember telling John, as he held on the arm rest real tight, when the plane was getting ready to go up, just act like your in a race car with Harry, a local racer here in Modesto, and he's,a big fan of and still is, and he's gaining speed to pass up another car, then I got this wee bit of a smile, Amanda was over there with her head pressing up against the window, I said"Sissy, what are you looking for?" I want to make sure there are no bird's getting in the way" me too I thought, we finally arrived in Tulsa, it was raining that day, and the kid's where amazed at the steam coming up from the road, we finally got to my Dad's and step mom's home and there's a creek behind it and off took John exploring the beauty that Oklahoma has to offer, that the town life can not offer here, I told my Dad, "Daddy, the water snakes, he has no clue of the snakes in the trees or the ground around here" he said he killed a bunch of them, but Daddy reminded him to be careful, so now John is off to the barn, found a pair of rubber boots and put them on he said, "I wont get bit now" those boots went to his waist almost, Amanda did not want nothing to do with it, she was such a girly girl then, and still is, until my sister's girls came over, the kid's set traps for racoon's or coon's as they call them, and made some money, they catch them and sell them to people to train their dogs to coon hunt, the reunion was wonderful, I met family that I don't ever recall meeting, my parents divorced when I was like 2 or 3, it was in a town my grandparents grew up in, a very small laid back town, it was nice to meet history, but then very sad, went to the cemetery where they're buried in, and emotion just ran through me, my grandmother was a sweet fragile lady, with a kind, loving spirit, my grandfather was rough and very, very boisterous, and I wasn't able to attend the funeral, the cemetery is under these huge oak tree's and you could hear the locust in them, as the days went on I asked my sister to take me to my little brother grave, he was 12 when he was killed by a neighbor girl who shot him with a double barrel shot gun, there again my emotions ran so high, it was like a funeral all over again, its in an Indian cemetery, and just very uniqe place, my sister and brother's are half Indian, visited my cousins hog farm that's the thing to be in back there, they are one of Farmer John's largest hog farm's, the kid's didn't like it there.....Hmmm, I wonder why? people in Oklahoma are so friendly, they talk slow as we know, walk slow, drive slow, every thing is just in a different speed, and it's called slow, my kid's had the privilege of hitting the cellar, a tornado was coming to our neck of the wood's, yikes, didn't do to much damage, but the kids are now ready to come home!!!! Leaving was such a difficult thing, I hate having my Dad living there, just too far away, but I didn't want to come back to California, Larry picked us up in San Francisco, and we stayed at the ritzy double tree, we looked so haggard, we walked in to get a room, looking bad, real bad, my kid's looked liked orphans, I was bra less, Larry in his dirty work cloths, it was sight, and the looks, o my gosh, they told us right off the bat...."The room's start at $100.00 dollars", they thought we couldn't afford them, I spoke up...go figure...and said,"Look, we want a room now, and we have the cash" boy thing's changed, laying in bed that night at that ritzy place I said, "Give me Oklahoma any time, people don't judge this harshly" Haven't been back to Oklahoma, but will be going there soon, their country is like our foot hills here, every thing is so green and wild flowers grow every where, O I didn't mention the kids wanted to bring back one those turtles, when it rains the turtles just come out in the groves, I said"O know way, when they pee it stinks, and we would be in so much trouble from the plane crew" John's response, always a response from him was,"Aunt Margaret and Uncle Don, can take back in their motor home" my Aunt and Uncle don't just have any kind of motor home, they have a coach.....needless to say the kid's weren't able to bring home a turtle, but they did get to bring home some great memories, they still share with each other.

I feel like I just went on vacation with you...and it was fun! It's always nice to visit other places and soak in the different lifestyles, but it's always good to get back home...*sigh*...Home, Sweet, Home.

I think I remember when your little brother got shot...is that possible or am I just remembering the story as it was told? Sometimes I think alzeheimers is setting in...wait a minute...what was I saying?

anyway, have a joyful day my friend ~
