Sorry....what does it truely mean?

Let me ask something please....
Isn't saying "sorry" means you admit to doing wrong or saying something wrong and by saying "sorry" means you wont say it or do it again?? So, tell me please why does the same person who has said "sorry" so many times before for the same thing, keep doing what they said "sorry" for in the first place!, I just don't get it. To me, when you say "sorry" that means you wont say or do it again and if you catch your self doing you stop!! when they know its going to hurt that person that they've asked for forgiveness for, are they not thinking right at that moment? is that wicked spirit got that much of a hold on them?
I find it very hard to accept their apology over and over again.

Eph 4:31-32 (Phi) Let there be no more bitter resentment or anger, no more shouting or slander, and let there be no bad feeling of any kind among you. Be kind to each other, be compassionate. Be as ready to forgive others as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

Hi Annette: It's really hard to stop doing something wrong, so I suspect the person apologizing is having difficulty. I always say "don't be sorry, don't do it again." But I'm sure I do things and am sorry too. Remember that cheesey saying Love means never to have to say your sorry.

Few are taught that sorry is only the acknowledgment of error
with the kids I have them say what it is they are saying it for
this is for two reasons so they can articulate and hear to make sure they really are sorry
secondly it holds them accountable for it.

love what Paul said.

I do the things I do not want to do and do not do those things that I do want to do. Who can save me from this?

Mom used to say "Sorry means you'll never do it again." Maybe you are being tested on your depth and ability to forgive...I guess it depends on the scale of the "wrong doing" and your willingness to be flexible in the "rules" or expectations.

*on a side note - my mom joined FB all by herself (much to my surprise). Please be her friend!

Oh my girl.... what a thought... I have had that going on in my life for years and years from my sister. She has, I hate to say, a cruel heart and hates me so and sends me terrible emails and then tells me she is sorry...THEN off she goes again and trashes me on Face Book and trashes me in an email... Mercy..
I have broken contact with her as of the first of this year per instructions from the Father God.. I can forgive but I get tired of laying down and being kicked again... No more laying down...

Have a wonderful Sunday girl..

there was an explanation in "the shack" about forgivness that was so amazing...i wish i could quote it....it basically said you may forgive someone, but that doesn't mean you need to allow them to hurt you again or allow them in your life.....for some people, annette.....they probably are sorry, but it doesn't stop them from doing things over and over again....unfortunately....
love you
