But.......he was there

Well our first Thanksgiving without my brother is over, it was a sad day for all of us, he enjoyed coming to Mom's every year, I kept waiting for a phone call from during the week asking me " Sis, what time are we eating?" and yesterday I was waiting for a phone call telling me " Sis, I'm here, when are you coming?" Momma said she was waiting for him to show up at the back door, but I did tell my brother " Joey, I get all the left overs this year" and smiled. Dinner was set and prayer was said and I pushed my chair back stood up and said "Joey, We know your not here physically, but we fill your spirit, we love you and miss you just as much as you love and miss all of us enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner with the king and all of angels, but my lunch is getting cold and I'm hungry, so find a place to sit and enjoy us" tears and chuckles where heard. My nephew gave me a cross that belonged to my brother and said " Aunt Annette, I was going through dad's jewelry box and saw this and when I did I knew right off it was meant for you" I opened the box and and bawled, Momma came to the rescue and hugged me and cried with me, I have something that was next to him, it's kind of big and manly but I'm going to wear it all the time. Do you remember me writing something about who will carry on the trait on napping on the floor with a pillow, we'll my Johnathon did, laid on his back, knees bent, with a toothpick in his mouth, rubbing his belly, just like his uncle did, and we all grinned, we knew, we just knew something silly was about to happen.." Is this how you did it Uncle Joe?" he asked, as he rubbed his belly, "This is my spot now" when I was leaving last night from Mom's we were out side sharing mom and daughter time and we're talking about how Bill (my step dad) is so hard of hearing at times, even with his hearing aides in (selective, is more like it) and how mom has to talk a little louder to him, then he tells her stop yelling at him, then the arguing is on folks, and for a split second I heard my brother laughing I told Mom " walk up to him and go testing, testing, 1,2,3 testing" and if he ask whats going on tell him "Just checking out your hearing today" I seriously thought I heard my brother laughing, Mom looked at me, I looked at her.......He was there!!

I LOVE YOU~
